specifically referring to. Could have been this. Could have been something else. Could have been the whole package. Franklin was sufficiently cynical about the basic character of man that he could have been referring to just about anything. Notwithstanding, we've managed to keep that republic for about 233 years now and we've certainly lived through far greater crises than the current corruption of public media.
