production. With unconventional oil dominating US production, you just cannot turn on the tap and let the oil flow. Because unconventional wells deplete quickly, more wells need to be drilled to replace production and we basically quit drilling during the pandemic. It will take a while to ramp production back up.

I agree that we need to look at other sources of energy and we also need to ramp up transit projects so the automobile isn't the only source of transportation for the vast majority of people.
