You are a conservative in the true meaning of the word. Your goal is to conserve the status quo as you know it. However, your status quo is a far, far removal from a nation that was purported to be born out of liberty, natural rights, and the enlightenment. Your status quo starts in the late 20th century long after liberty had been cooked in the US.

All of the government advances represented by "x" are okay and acceptable government moves.

All of the government advances represented "y" are not okay, are unacceptable, and gross infringements on liberty.

That's why you struggle with someone like pickle (or myself) because we consistently take issue with the x and y infringements.
