Chosing to hire a thoroughly mediocre was a decision that they made. When CM was hired he was given a top 20 salary. To claim that no one else would take the job is just silly.
There were dozens of quality coaches at that time that were getting paid about 10% of what we paid CM. Any number would have jumped at the chance to increase their salary by an order of magnitude and coach at a P5 school.
