If Cuonzo wins those game, had Mizzou at 8-6 in conference and finishes the season 2-2, I think that makes it a much tougher decision to fire him. He ended the season strong and finished in the top 6 or 6 in the SEC. I really think our AD might give him another year in that scenario with so much of the roster coming back. Luckily that didn't happen and the decision is easy to make.
But the point Gabe made is pretty spot on. What would have happened to Frank Haith if Mike Dixon didn't get suspended and he wins 6 single possession games in 2012 with him on the roster? Who knows what would have happened long-term with him here? The margins are razor thin and sometimes coaches can get lucky and get a couple more years if the ball bounces the right way. But eventually the true skill of a coach will surface.
