See bad actors picking on weaker neighbors, we should assist. The question in my mind becomes… How we assist.

We cannot militarily intervene in every schoolyard fight with bullies and innocents. Our government’s first responsibility is to its people. Not the people halfway around the world.

We can help financially, we can help diplomatically, we can assist with weapons if necessary and we can impose financial penalties and sanctions on the bully. But we cannot spread our military into every skirmish from Africa to Ecuador and from Ukraine to Korea.

If China knows that we will send military personnel to every skirmish on earth, they will initiate skirmishes in multiple places on earth with the sole purpose of weakening our already woke weak, or at least weaker military.

I’m sure you would agree that your first responsibility is not to beat up a bully, it’s to your own family. And if you go chasing bullies around the neighborhood, your family may suffer.
