While also having historic level of player turnover, landing the program on probation, recruiting at a comically low level, constant off the court issues and arrests, setting basically every statistical mark for futility, and forcing the AD to change the way it reported attendance. And that was after the first two years, and we brought him back for a 3rd season in which he did the same.
I don't think anyone can claim with a straight face Kim was given a short leash. 3 years is a very long time in those circumstances, particularly given he was completely unqualified when he took on the role so his failure wasn't much of a surprise. MU's problem has historically been retaining coaches too long past the point of them being able to recover and allowing them to drive the program into the ground so the next guy has a complete rebuild. Happened with Vanatta, with Norm, with Quin, to some degree with Mike Anderson, and with Kim. And obviously is happening again with Cuonzo. Only Haith to some degree left a program in somewhat stable condition and even that wasn't ideal and came with a host of challenges.
