Now, there were times I felt the end of a belt and received a stern talking to. And I not only deserved it but I came out better for it. But you don't strike out of anger. And you don't scream out of anger. And you don't provoke out of anger. The aim is always to teach and reinforce there are behaviors that will not be accepted. And you reinforce you are teaching this out of love for the child and not out of anger for what they did. You don't teach any of that by demonstrating it yourself.
