an issue from you. We agree on most things and I respect your opinions.

But in my opinion, the Civil War was arguably the most noble and necessary war we have ever fought. The preservation of the union and the eradication of slavery were essential. Morally, economically and otherwise.

At the time of the war, statues of the founders had not been taken down, and freedom was valued above everything.

How different would this country and the world be today if that war had not been fought? Certainly, slavery would have eventually died out, but at what cost in human suffering?

Would a fractured United States have invited return incursions from foreign countries? Would Mexico still own California Arizona New Mexico and Texas? Would we have purchased Alaska?

The world would be much different and much worse off with a fractured and fragmented multinational North American continent.

The war was costly, the war was horrific, the war was necessary. I often in conversations compare that to the folly that was world war one. The most useless and costly war probably in the history of planet earth.
