You haven't been in a retail store when an obvious theft occurs.

No one can do sh*t to a thief for fear of getting the store sued.

Nordstrom Rack has regular employees each take a turn as "Security" at the door. They just keep the honest people honest are are told not to confront anyone who is stealing.

Been in both Academy Sports and Bass Pro when obvious shopliftings occurred and, in spite of s clear observation of what was going on, the employees couldn't stop or go after the thief either time. One manager said they'd just check the recording to see what all he took, the other cashiers said "it's not our job".
