It's been a cyclical business since its genesis, it will remain one.
There's no shortage of accessible oil resources. The industry is heavily invested in unconventional oil which requires continual drilling to meet demand because individual wells deplete so quickly. As a result of covid, supply and demand are way out of whack but it will fix itself as more drilling occurs and more wells are put on line.
