not mature enough for the job at that time.

His basketball knowledge and coaching abilities were fine even then. His personal life was a Trainwreck and his ultimate downfall.

Seriously, how many of us would have made good decisions being turned lose on a college campus with basicly unlimited funds when we were thirty? Most of us would have flamed out much more spectacularly than he did.
