I find them deeply objectionable in American middle class culture.

And I don't where the fck you get your opinions on Covid, but most people I know who take one action or other, isolation, vaccination, masks regarding it do so to stop the spread in the community, to look out for others. It is right in line with self-reliance friend, to play your role in protecting your community. Are you big on Emersonian Self-Reliance, or do you have other models.
