The absurdity of him saying Wilmore has the green light to shoot from 3 and works on them in practice aside, this summarizes the issues plaguing our program. His eye for assessing talent leads him to believe every player on our current roster should have the green light to shoot from distance, his offensive design encourages it, and the lack of distinction what type of 3pter in giving them the green light be that off the dribble, pull up, regardless. After an offseason of practice as he heads into the regular season, his opinion is every player on the roster has demonstrated publicly giving them the green light on 3 pters is a good idea.

Is there anybody in your mind on this team that has the green light to shoot from three?
“I would say all of them. The guy I’m about to say, he might think he has a green light, Jordan. But all of them, this is what they practice and they all can shoot threes. Some of them can shoot them off the dribble, some of them can pull up, but all of them, again he thinks he can shoot them, Jordan made them up top yesterday at the top of the key, but all of them shoot it. All of them have the green light to shoot the ball from three.”
Not to be overly harsh, but he uses analytics like a simpleton. Big data is meant to identify patterns and correlations that are too complex for the human mind to process, alternative data is meant to layer on top of your understanding to provide additional context and insight. Analytics isn't meant to replace what is easily observable and understood by regular observation. This is not the right type of staff to try and utilize analytics, it confuses them on how basketball actually works and results in an overwhelming crap product. We waste time practicing things that have no value (and often negative value). And every offseason we seem to have no understanding of what assets and skills we have actually accumulated and how they should be utilized.
