because it’s a sports message board. I have something to say and I’m saying if. And I don’t really care who agrees or disagrees with my opinion.
The issue here is the pitiful non conference schedule, which is a feature, not a bug, of Pingetons philosophy. This last weekend really rubbed me the wrong way, seeing Mizzou playing 2 cupcakes when they could have been playing more challenging teams, which would enhance our goal of getting back to the NCAA tournament. I thought that was a common goal for Mizzou basketball fans but now I’m not so sure.
In response, a few people said oh don’t worry, scheduling games close (100 miles lol) to a players hometown is perfectly understandable, it’s a common recruiting tactic to help get a player to sign with us. If that’s true, I’m just asking for proof. Was this in fact something that was used to recruit Hansen, or not? It’s not complicated, it’s a yes or no answer. And if the answer is no, and it was just a “sweet gesture”, made this year well after she signed with us, then the “all coaches do this as a recruiting tactic” is basically irrelevant. I’m just asking what it was.
The issue again is the weak non con schedule. I’m happy to discuss that issue in hopefully a fact based and data driven way.
Our weak non con schedule harms our ability to make the NCAA tourney and to achieve the best seed and most desirable draw possible.
And no, I’m not a big Pingeton fan. I’m sure that offends some people who think we have a really elite type coach. In my opinion, we don’t, and we can do a lot better. And as long as she is coach, our ceiling will be limited. People can agree or disagree with that. As a huge Mizzou WBB fan I want to see us make the NCAA tourney comfortably, every year, and once in a while, in my lifetime, to actually make it to the sweet 16 or beyond. I don’t think that will ever happen under Pingeton.
