this time of year they allow you to gauge your competition.
What I saw tonight was a very weak Central Michigan team give us a serious scare. In the end our players were simply better than theirs and that was the difference.
But I saw an offense that once again reverted to last year. When they threw the zone at us it appeared that we had no idea how to attack it. In the second half, we put up a number of desperation threes and had at least two shot-clock violations.
On the defensive end, I did see more hustle and effort but CM had no inside game to speak of and there were still times when they totally dominated in the paint. Wilmore should never be in a game that is still in doubt.
As to the rotation, I thought all three transfers were solid but none were spectacular. Kobe had a rough start but should be fine and Pickett had a very nice start to his senior season. Brookshire, Keita and Durugordon were non-factors and Keita was the only one of the group that did not appear to be overmatched. Once Gordon is back it looks like we will have a six man rotation with Brookshire, Keita and Wilmore playing very limited minutes. That being said it was the first game and maybe one of the young guys will come on and give us some quality minutes later in the season.
