and MU, in reality, seems pretty disconnected from the people of the state who aren't alumni. The guy who graduated from SLU or UMSL or UMKC or Rockhurst who might be a college football guy can find plenty of other schools to root for if he\she thinks the university doesn't represent what they believe in. That's reality.
In addition, Alden steamrolling the locals with the overbuilt airplane hanger gym, playing to the corporate and beautiful people's money for the prime seats drove off, permanently, good and loyal Missourians. In this state, you generally get the permanent FU back when you appear to screw someone over like that fiasco.
