to beat highly ranked teams is not the same as packing a schedule with 6+ heavyweights.
In 2013 our big wins were GA away, A&M here.
Since then A&M has been moving up.
I seriously don't think even Alabama wants an even more competitive schedule.
They've been doing just fine with 'their minds in the past'.
Look at this schedule:

GA, LSU & Auburn to escape the regular season.
FL with a plus QB to escape the SEC Championship
That got them into the tournament.
Losses to TX, OU, FSU, or Clemson along the way would likely not help.
And given the way mindset works, an early loss to even a great team might have derailed them.
Don't be so enthusiastic about this franken-conference you're constructing...
