The PAC12 these days is maybe 1
The Big 12 was at least 1, sometimes 2, but that always involved Oklahoma.
Now with OU and Texas in the SEC, I think you are right.
On annual basis, the SEC will have 4-6 teams that would be legit national title contenders, while the other conferences would add up to about 4 maybe combined. And then there's Notre Dame, etc.
