One's best bet, seems to me is a balance between the two. I am not a hard core one way or the other. I have seen enough swings of the pendulum.

Best our nation ever did was during times of high union participation, progressive tax policies and a govt that worked to the benefit of the many rather than the few.

I lived through that. It was good.
