Government officials have no stake in their decision making. Heck, in many instances, they are probably getting some sort of kickback for their decisions.

If you are running a company, you have a personal stake in that company as part of your employment, or a shareholder. You are also beholden to your shareholders to get money to run. Government is none of that.

Look at Illinois...people ran up billions in debt, and they have no obligation to that at all.
