End tomorrow the funding of local school systems based on the property values of the locals. Doing so has given the offspring of elite home owners one serious leg up on the competition.
Second, since we seem to agreed that at least in the past a secondary education was the foundation of a functioning citizen able to compete in the local marketplace, purchase a home and contribute to the community and thus supported a system providing free education through the secondary level. - surely we see now that for decades that level of education necessary to become a functioning and contributing member of the community has increased to at least the junior college if not the undergraduate level. THUS - free Junior college and for those who qualify - free college.
