are remedies for a false arrest and malicious prosecution. but of course, going back to the police they don't have to have incontrovertible proof that you are absolutely guilty before they arrest you, they must have a set of facts and circumstances that would lead a reasonable person to believe it's probable a particular person committed an offense.
