1967. President Johnson amended E.O. 11246 to include affirmative action for women. Federal contractors now required to make good-faith efforts to expand employment opportunities for women and minorities.

Do you think it was Not politically correct when she was hired?

I remember this being kind of a hot topic in the mid 90's as well. Police and fire departments were giving preferential hiring treatment to women and minorities.
