Continuing this series, the following list is obviously very premature because these kids just finished their freshman seasons in college. But I felt compelled after watching Kalkbrenner play for Creighton earlier this afternoon, and having nothing better to do, so here are the top ten Missouri players, per Rivals, of last year’s class:

1. Caleb Love. 6-3 PG. St. Louis (CBC)

Five-star, #17 player nationally, McDonald’s All-American, signed with North Carolina over Arizona, following tremendous interest from Mizzou (which always seemed like a pipe dream.). Disappointed early, then improved as the season progressed and averaged 10.5 ppg and 3.6 apg, primarily coming off the bench. Struggled mightily with his shot, converting only 31 percent from the field and 27 percent from three. Rumors swirled over the last week that he would declare for the NBA Draft or enter the transfer portal, but he announced on Friday that he will return to the Tar Heels for a second season.

2. Cam’ron Fletcher. 6-6 SF. St. Louis (Vashon)

Four-star, #49 recruit in the class was also heavily recruited by Mizzou but, again, it always seemed like a pipe dream. Signed with Kentucky over Illinois, Arkansas and Alabama and suffered through a catastrophic freshman campaign for the Wildcats. Averaged 1.7 ppg and 1.7 rpg appearing in only nine games in limited minutes. Asked to “step away” from the team for a week in December following a tantrum after a loss to North Carolina. Has entered the transfer portal and apparently Missouri and many other Power Five programs are not interested.

3. Ryan Kalkbrenner. 7-0 C. St. Louis (Trinity Catholic)

Slender big-man was a four-star, #95 national recruit out of high school and committed to Creighton over offers from Mizzou, Georgia Tech, Illinois and ku. Contributed meaningful minutes off the bench for the Blue Jays with 6.0 ppg and 3.5 rpg. Shot 66% from the field but only 49% from the line. Considered a solid developmental prospect moving forward as he gains strength and weight.

4. Davion Bradford. 7-0 C. Mehlville (H.S.)

Four-star big man, #141 recruit overall, picked K-State over Mizzou and Illinois. Had a solid freshman campaign on a bad team with 7.7 ppg and 4.3 rpg. Emerged as the Wildcats’ starting center midway through his first season.

5. Jarrett Hensley. 6-8 SF. Branson (Link Year Prep)

Three-star swing, #149 nationally following a prep season at Link Year, an emerging post-grad school in Branson associated with the Kanakuk Kamp organization. Signed with NC-Greensboro over Kent St. Played sparingly his first year with the Spartans with only 1.8 ppg and 0.9 rpg.

6. Roman Wilson. 6-10 C. Kansas City (Park Hill)

Once considered a four-star prospect recruited by Wichita St., K-State and Tulsa, interest slipped when he was declared academically ineligible to participate his senior year of high school. Failed to qualify and enrolled at Gulf Coast (FL) CC where he had numbers of 5.9 ppg and 5.6 rpg as a freshman.

7. Luke Kasubke. 6-4 SG. St. Louis (Chaminade)

Three-star prospect picked K-State over Creighton. Struggled with a foot injury as a freshman and averaged 2.2 ppg and 1.3 rpg.

8. Kobe Clark. 6-6 SF. St. Louis (Vashon)

Three-star forward signed with Georgetown over Missouri St. and SEMO. Buried on the Hoyas bench his first year, he had 0.6 ppg and 1.6 rpg in 10 appearances.

9. Ethan Kilgore. 6-6 SG. Gower (East Buchanan)

Three-star small-school sharpshooter inked with Idaho. Had 4.1 ppg and 2.3 rpg as a frosh for the Vandals.

10. Rashad Weekly-McDaniels. 6-0 PG. St. Louis (Trinity Catholic)

Three-star playmaker went to Central Michigan and barely played as a freshman. 1.1 ppg and 0.3 apg in mop-up duty in 15 contests for the Chippewas.
