They have 5 top 100 recruits on their roster, we have 2. As far as NBA talent, Agbaji is considered a late 1st round pick, and Marcus Garrett considered a 2nd. Jalen Wilson is a future NBA player as well. We have a maybe 2nd Round in Tilmon.
Big 12 is not much better of a league this year, if at all. We are a deeper conference than people realize. We stack up pretty much like for like with the top teams in their conference, then they fall off a cliff as to we still have 5 better teams then their #8.
Rosters really aren't that similar either. We actually have 2 PGs. They dont have one and that is why they have struggled the way the have. Outside of PG, they are a better equipped team than us.
Their "turnaround" also consisted of playing Iowa St twice who is the worst program in high major basketball this year, kstate, whose NET is 203, and almost losing to UTEP.
I agree with you that they are doing a little more with less this year compared to previous kansas level teams, but this is not a team that is really all that great.
And to do a comparison, they have essentially split against NCAAT teams (7-8).
We have gone (9-3). (9-5) if you count Ole Miss who is on the bubble and very well could play into the NCAAT.
I give Mizzou a ton of credit this year, and I hope that we can pull together a couple wins this week and in the NCAAT.
