You live in a Constitutional Republic, you may choose not to participate but that does not change the fact that you DO have a voice in the system. When you choose not to exercise your right to vote, which itself is your right, you in effect give your proxy to those that did choose to participate.
Your agreement or disagreement does not change this. You may claim to be a bystander but you are not. Our electoral votes and House seats are apportioned by population if you live here you are part of the system.
