Imagine this. There is a man holding a gun to a child's head. He says to you and two others "If all three of you say let the child go and I will let the child go. All you need to do is say the word."

The other two say "let the child go." You say nothing. The child is shot and killed. You then say, "I had nothing to do with it. I didn't participate. It was the others."

And they find virtue in this way of thinking.
