benefit of the doubt to was political science, not actual science.

Nothing we have done in this country since last March has been based upon any science. I will excuse the actions from last March thru June. At that time no one really knew what we were facing and I believe that the initial reactions were made in good faith. But by the beginning of the summer, we actually had data coming in that should have changed our response. Unfortunately by that time little tin-pot dictators across the country had become enamoured with their new powers and were not about to give them up.
