I would venture to estimate upwards of 85% of Pinson's assists go to Tilmon other than the lazy kind of simply passing to an open shooter on the perimeter because there are simply no other assist targets for him to pass to with everyone else standing stationary around the outside the arc. And even then half the time Tilmon is way away from the basket setting screens.
For context, I'm particularly fond of Lee Coward as a prototypical MU pg. But his 3 starting seasons at pg for MU also directly coincide with our 3 highest scoring teams of all time. Was Coward a big part of that, of course. But he also benefited considerably too by playing on such teams.
Pressey was an awesome and gifted passer, but also playing in a system that generated a lot of assist opportunities and players cutting or occupying spaces to receive those passes. Unfortunately he would be a lot closer to an upgraded version of what Buggs does for this team were he to play at MU now.
