1. Unless PG&E (or the State of California) can figure out a solution to their wildfire issues, blackouts will only continue. Most of California is arid, with rainfall coming (if it does) during the winter months. I lived in both Northern and Southern California, so I know that as a fact. During other times of the year, the unirrigated land gets very dry and is always prone to wildfires, which is another source of greenhouse gases.
2. Lower repair and maintenance costs are fine IF you can afford to buy the car in the first place.
3. Wow, 300+ miles on a single charge. That means it would take 8 days to drive from NY to LA instead of 4. Sign me up for that trip.
4. Yes, but do they have enough for ALL the electric cars of the future? The more EVs, the more charging stations that will be needed.
One other question: What are they going to do about the fire problem associated with EVs involved in accidents? While EV fires are pretty rare, they are extremely dangerous, both in terms of rate of combustion (even explosion) and the poisonous gases released by a burning lithium oxide battery.
