Except inflation will rise.

Companies aren't going to fire employees because they can't pay them - they'll increase prices. If companies automate, terrific but that means lots of high paying engineering jobs and increased productivity.

The issue will be the workers currently making $16 per hour who are actually trained at their job. How do they get a boost? A teacher making $22 per hour isn't going to be thrilled learning they are making barely over minimum wage. So the government will need to increase taxes to pay their employees more.
