We were without doubt absolutely terrible at supporting athletics and our football program during his tenure at Mizzou.
That said, as they say "he knew the job was dangerous when he took it."
Right now Drink has what he has to believe is everything he needs to be successful, including a new indoor practice facility in the works. In 5-7 years we'll fall behind again because of the resources you speak of and hopefully he's had enough success that as a fan base we'll pony up and give him what he needs. As far as Drink sticking around I would say two things.
* Staying long term and I would consider long term 10+ years I wouldn't rule it out b/c he's a family man and has 4 daughters. COMO is by all accounts a great place to live and raise a family. My hunch is he's the kind of guy that values stability and his family will not have to beg for food.
* consider MU's ROI when it comes to football. How many teams in the east can say they've won 2 division titles in the last 10 years in spite of our lack of financial support. Stability is a thing, it's important, Pinkel proved that, and he was taken care of.
Damn right we need to up our spending. Drink appears to be the right guy at this point. Take care of him, give him what he wants (hopefully we learned from Devine bolting) and we'll be fine.
