getting independence from my parents which UMSL or SLU or SIUE I wouldn't have gotten because I could have commuted... though I did later end up at SIU-Carbondale and SLU following my future ex-wife like a dope.
I understand what you are saying. I have and continue to use services provided for through taxation. My kids went to public schools instead of private schools.
But I am not an anarchist either. My personal beliefs are government is upside down. The farther away the layer of government is from the people, the less power it should have.
In perhaps more clear terms, the majority of my taxes should go to the municipal/county government where the politicians are neighbors.. less to the state.. even less to the feds.
Decentralized government. That is the change I'd love to see.
