their reality and their point of reference. If they are angry, or offended, or sad about it they can therefore react in any way they see fit. Because they are angry, or offended or sad.
This is why toddlers do. This is why we have the "terrible twos". At that age children lack the intellectual capacity to overcome their feelings. Now we praise adults for doing the same.
