I've been feeling a pretty large crack under the carpet in the basement for a while. And lately it seems to have gotten bigger so had someone come look at it. They didn't peel the carpet up but just felt what I was feeling walking across it. They did measure and we had a very tiny amount of sinking on one side but nothing to really be all that concerned about aside from the crack.
So gave me an estimate to lift and level and I paid a deposit and made an appointment. This morning I cut the carpet and peeled it back so it was ready when they got here. It's not even a ****ing crack. For some reason they just spliced the padding together in a weird way and I guess it slid further apart the more we walked on it?
So I guess I'm happy I don't have a giant crack in my basement but my carpet is cut and I'm not sure if I'll still have to pay the deposit? And it kind of makes me wonder why it needed to be spliced in the first place? Seems like something the original installers wouldn't have done so was there some other problem before?
