Massachusett's Miracle demonstrated the efficacy of govt spending on economic booms in response to those who say govt spending never does any good. There is also a significant ripple effect in the private of govt investment in many many areas. The intel work that flourished around Boston in the '80s created a sht ton of support industries as well - THAT was the Massachusett's Miracle - there were HUNDREDS of pages of want ads in the Boston Globe. Hundreds. So Govt investment can be a good thing in places.
