to do their jobs. Now that they've learned politicians will order the police to stand down when needed, they will design other methods to stay safe. We've already seen this happen when private security was hired during the riots. Those businesses were not harmed, once the owners realized they had to hire their own security since the police were not allowed to help.

Don't be surprised at some point in the future if you walk into a business and there are security guards at the entrance with fully automatic weapons standing guard. I've seen it with my own eyes in other countries.
