The amount of dirt you would have to tuck in is enormous. And the drainage with the blasting down into the side of the hill where the stadium sits is terrible. If you were around for the Larry Smith era, you will remember the grass coming up in clumps. The roots can't get a good hold when the dirt on top of the rock is in actuality temporary. It is just not worth the time and money to try to make it work when the field turf almost everyone uses now requires little to no maintenance.
