I don't know if you're kidding or not, but it's been well-documented in the past that there are difficulties growing turf in Memorial Stadium. I'm acquainted with the university turf grass specialist (now at Iowa State) who advised them on the process the last time they put in real turf, and even he felt it was a difficult situation.
There's a reason you see relatively few real turf fields in this part of the country. We can't do Kentucky bluegrass, it's too hot, and we're too cold for some of the southern grasses, so the only option is tall fescue. Tall fescue can be decent on a sports field but it is often going to be struggling in August when the team wants to be doing practice on the field, then you've got a situation where it's already damaged when the first fall games starts.
Even the high schools in Columbia have all gone to artificial turf.
