The conference only structure make little sense to me.
Is somehow one conference immune or more at risk than another? Are there more players on the field and closer contact than another conference?
I am being sarcastic, but given the size of the conferences geographically it does not even limit travel all that much. The biggest travel limiter is the elimination of the early season tournaments, which seem to have already been cancelled.
