Hebrews 7:3

3 Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever.

Resembling the Son of God... not is the Son of God.

Melchizedek's priesthood was not based upon familial inheritance like the Levitical priesthood.. "without father, without mother, without genealogy".

Levitical priesthood also had time limits. It had a beginning defined at the age of 25.. "having neither beginning of days".. and an age limit of 50 years.. "nor end of life".

Numbers 8

23 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
24 This applies to the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall begin to do duty in the service of the tent of meeting; 25 and from the age of fifty years they shall retire from the duty of the service and serve no more.

The entire point of this is to show that Jesus' priesthood is like Melchizedek's. It isn't limited by age, it isn't inherent from family and it doesn't have an end date.

Yet literalists like MizzouTigerz completely miss the point and say.. oh... Melchizedek is Jesus
