Who he is and his "I don't play the Washington game" approach is what got him into the White House. While you can certainly make the case this cost him votes, you also have to factor the number of votes lost the moment some feel he stops being genuine and starts playing the game.

We won't ever know. But I do think a one sided analysis is not a reflective one.
