We had Darious Outlaw and Farmer at QB. Farmer had major injuries his first two years that limited his athleticism. Outlaw ended up being a very good receiver, but did not switch until the next season.
We had Gage as a receiver, but not much else.
Abron was a sturdy back, but not someone capable of really hitting the home run. He was more of a grinder.
I wasn't sure what to think of Pinkel's offense in year It was kinda a 50/50 split pass/run... single back formations mainly.
The next year Brad Smith started at QB and the rest was history.
Not sure if there is any similarities here or not. I would say Drinkowitz probably has the better options at QB than Pinkel did in year 1, but that's too hard to judge.
Drinkowitz won't have 3 non-conference games to build some wins.
But overall... we may just not have the talent to do what Drink would prefer to do, like Pinkel didn't in 2001.
