This is not a political post of right or wrong but a reality of what I think is coming our way. This will as 2015 create a massive hit in the athletic department giving all across the country, but for us even worse. Every benefit of a doubt gained over the last few years is going to be destroyed by the end of the season. I have a family member who gives massively to Mizzou who has committed to cut off giving for good. Annually he is one of the top givers. When we cleaned house in 2015 he choose to stick with it, he’s done now.
A lower level school’s team took a knee and the conservative college town is ripping them all over social media. This is their first taste. The protesting will be more impactful in the next 10 years on athletic budgets than COVID-19 ever could be.
