benchwarmers will no longer be on the team, it’s that girls good enough to play and develop and be great players will now be benchwarmers, they will never get the opportunities because the rosters are so artificially bloated and there are still only so much playing time and at bats to divide among rosters in the 30-40 person range.
Thats a shame. It didn’t have to be this way.
And since every team is in this position, to different degrees, it’s not like the kids have great opportunities to transfer and play elsewhere. The NCAA decided to disrupt rosters and diminish opportunities for kids to play just to avoid hurting the feelings of the senior class who just had the bad luck to have their last year of eligibility coincide with a once in a lifetime pandemic.
The NCAA should have just let we’ll enough alone and thank the seniors for the 3.5 years they had, and move on.
