You realize that like 75% fewer people are dying in ICUs now than in March/April due to much better treatment options in hospitals. So even if neighbor countries end up with the same number of infections as Sweden, they'll have far fewer deaths. And this is ignoring the possibility that a vaccine will be available in the not too distant future.

By allowing the virus to spread so quickly back in March/April when nobody knew how to treat the virus, they killed a lot of people unnecessarily.
