and not the case in 2015-16 or 2016-17. I'm not sure we even had 'top end' guys those seasons.

I think in a normal MU season we would characterize guys like Xavier and Mark Smith was being wildly unpredictable and we are not sure what to expect from them given how up and down they have been. They only seem like 'known' quantities in the relative sense because we have had so few of them.
