IMO, somewhere along the line the US lost what HS & college

education was all about when HS and College FB and BB coaches started making more than science and math teachers. Dont misunderstand me, I enjoy watching HS and college sports but not so much that I think a HS coach ought to be paid more than a math or science teacher and the same goes for college. If that is what sports has brought us then start up minor leagues, dump the AAU, etc and let those that want to play sports, play sports; and those that want an education go to HS and college.
