I do think it is a silly decision if they are walking away from personal fear of Covid though. NFL players are among the most healthy people in the world and they have access to health Care that is not available anywhere else in the world. A professional football player is at almost zero risk from this virus. They are much more likely be in a fatal car accident on the way to the stadium.
Even though they are rolling contacts these guys are losing a year of earnings in what for most of them will be a five year career. They will never recoup that loss.
